What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to approved disabled individuals. Funding is designed too help provide more time with family & friends, assist with enabling greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life. Health professionals which are covered by NDIS include Chiropractors, Audiologists, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, Optometrists, Speech Pathologists and many more.
Are you eligible?
The NDIS provides a framework for eligibility. This includes:
- Are you aged between 7 and 65 years?
- Are you an Australian citizen, permanent resident or special category visa holder?
- Do you live in Australia?
- Do you have a disability caused by a permanent impairment (intellectual, cognitive, neurological, sensory, physical or psychosocial)
- Do you usually need disability specific supports to complete daily life activities?
- Do you meet the requirements for disability or early intervention as outlined by NDIS
Once your application has been reviewed & approved, funding is provided for your selected service(s).
NDIS Plans
- Plan Managed: A plan manager acts on your behalf to coordinate & distribute funds for services to support you
- Self Managed: You control the services & funding that are best suited to your needs
- NDIA Managed: The services that you utilize are directly paid by the NDIA on your behalf. There is less flexibility with this option as the NDIS will only allocate funds for services that are registered with the NDIS.
